Charging problem
In vehicles with intelligent alternators such as Euro 5/6 engines, charging a second installed battery is an issue that requires a different approach. The vehicle and energy management are designed for a starter battery only. The aim is to keep emissions as low as possible. As a result, the alternator works as little as possible and the associated alternator voltage can fluctuate considerably. If you want to charge a second installed battery while driving, this battery will therefore not get a good charging process.

Charging converter
Fortunately, the above charging problem can be solved by installing the HDC charging converter. This converter ensures that the alternator voltage offered is converted into a stable charging process. The charging converter is mounted between the starter battery and the second battery. When the engine is running, the second battery will automatically be charged. Naturally, the starter battery will remain protected at all times so that no starting problems arise.

Integrated solar charge controller
The model HDC 1212-40 also contains an extra input that offers the possibility to connect solar panels (max 45Vdc- 600Watt). The second battery is charged via the built-in MPPT charge controller when the engine is switched off. This creates a complete hybrid DC charging system!
